Hi, I am Tata
I'm Tatevik, but everyone calls me Tata.
Collages came into my life quite unexpectedly and spontaneously.
I've always loved magazines - bright, colorful, joyful, and full of optimism. Over the years, I've collected VOGUE, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Forbes, ELLE, Marie Claire, People, and many others from all around the world.
One day, I decided it was time to get rid of them. They were simply taking up too much space.
But as I started flipping through the pages and found myself captivated by all the beautiful imagery. I just decided to tear out the most striking pages and keep them. After all, it felt like such a shame to throw away the entire magazine.
Then I thought, why not cut out the individual images instead?
Hmm... Turns out, it's actually an exciting thing to do. You get disconnected from your thoughts, the emotions of the day, and completely immerse yourself in a world of beauty.
Eventually, all those cut-out pieces started coming together, and my first collage was born. It was 2023.
I honestly don't even remember which one was the very first. But after that, ideas just kept coming. I wanted to create another one, and then another one in yellow, another inspired by sports, another exploring the concept of time.
And here I am today, with 30+ artworks that I'm excited to share with you.
The process, in 4 steps
01Find
Old and new magazines, packaging paper, boxes and other objects
02Cut
Big and small scissors, we cut the most beautiful parts, one at a time
03Compose
Pieces move around the board for days before finding their perfect spot
04Glue and seal
Glue on museum board, then we fix, stamp and add 3D objects
